Cal Fire SLO firefighters battled a large vegetation fire yesterday afternoon. What’s being called the “Soda Fire” broke out yesterday at around 1:30 near Highway 58 and Soda Lake Road in the California Valley. By 3:00 the blaze had grown to 500 acres. Cal Fire SLO officials reported that the forward progress of the fire had been halted at around 5. The fire was last reported to be 50 percent contained. An investigation into the cause is underway.
