A massive manhunt for the suspect involved in Wednesday morning’s ambush shooting of a Sheriff’s deputy came to a dramatic end yesterday afternoon. Officers caught up with Mason Lira near Ramada Drive yesterday afternoon at around 2 o’clock and shots were exchanged. A short time later, the entire town of Templeton was ordered to shelter in place while officers continued to search for Lira. In the end, four officers were wounded and Mason Lira was pronounced dead. Paso Robles Police Chief Ty Lewis said, “Our law enforcement officers that were injured during this, they’re heroes and they need to be recognized as such.” Investigators are now searching for a motive.
