A couple of conservation groups have filed a federal lawsuit against the U.S. Bureau of Land Management to stop oil drilling in the Carrizo Plain National Monument. The suit filed by the Center for Biological Diversity and Los Padres Forest Watch claims BLM violated federal and environmental laws by approving an application for a permit to drill, and construct a pipeline on BLM-managed lands. E&B Natural Resources Management Corp. officials claim the oil drilling and pipeline would have a minimal impact on the local environment.
