Congressman Salud Carbajal paid a visit to the Monarch Butterfly Grove in Pismo Beach yesterday. The Monarch butterfly population has recently hit critically low numbers. According to KSBY, Carbajal and several other lawmakers recently wrote a letter to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service urging the protection of the butterflies. He said, without “aggressive urgent action we’re gonna have to add the western monarch butterfly to the extinct list of species.”
