The CHP says a weekend crash in Nipomo left one person dead while injuring three others. It happened late Saturday night when 24-year-old Ernesto Herrera of Santa Maria entered Highway 101 at West Tefft Street going south in the northbound lanes. His Chevy Tahoe collided with a Honda CR-V driven by 44-year-old Jose Cruz Jr… A passenger in that vehicle was ejected and would later die from their injuries. Herrera fled the scene on foot but was later taken into custody and booked into county jail. Bail was set at 100,000 dollars.
