Cal Fire SLO firefighters and crews from San Luis Obispo City fire kept a vegetation fire on the Grade from getting out of hand. The Tower Fire was first reported Saturday afternoon. What started as a one-acre fire about halfway up the grade had grown significantly with zero containment. Firefighters battled the flames and steep terrain on the ground and from the air. By nightfall, the Tower Fire was 70 percent contained. Yesterday afternoon, Cal Fire SLO announced the flames had scorched about 20 acres and was fully contained.
