From Cayucos to Lompoc, the use of illegal fireworks is a growing problem. With the Fourth of July weekend less than two weeks away, several Central Coast neighborhoods have reported an increase of illegal fireworks exploding overhead. Aerial fireworks are only allowed in San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara Counties at professional shows. Fines for the use of illegal fireworks range from 300 to 2,000 dollars.
