U.S. D.O.J Settles With SLO County Jail

San Luis Obispo County has agreed to pay 175,000 dollars to a former jail inmate. According to an investigation by the U.S. Department of Justice, the former inmate, who had a prosthetic leg, claimed he was denied equal access to programs, services, and activities. The settlement between the County and the D.O.J. includes making the jail facility more A.D.A. compliant. Steps Sheriff Ian Parkinson says his office has been actively working on.
