San Luis Obispo County Health officials have announced the arrival of the Delta COVID-19 variant. It’s the first known case of the variant in the county. Health officials say the Delta variant was first found in India, seems to spread more easily, and more rapidly than other strains of the virus. An investigation into how the patient contracted the virus and how to prevent further spread is ongoing. County Health Officer Dr. Penny Borenstein said it’s a reminder that the pandemic is not over. Two Delta cases were reported in Santa Barbara County in April.
