Judge Denies Prosecution’s Motion to Add L.A. Rape Charges In Smart Case

The defendants in the Kristin Smart Murder trial were in an actual courtroom for the first time since being arrested in April. Paul and Ruben Flores have pleaded not guilty to the charges against them. During yesterday’s hearing, the prosecution requested two rape charges in Los Angeles be admitted as evidence. The judge denied the request. Paul Flores’s defense attorney said there was zero evidence of rape, attempted rape, or murder. The preliminary hearing, set for July 20th, has been moved to August 2nd.
