Day five of the preliminary hearing for Paul and Ruben Flores had the lead detective back on the stand. San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Detective Clint Cole became the lead investigator in the Kristin Smart in 2017. Paul Flores’ defense attorney questioned him about any “other suspects” in the case, including former boyfriends, acquaintances, and Scott Peterson. Cole testified that those leads were vetted and dismissed. The judge ruled yesterday that an ex-girlfriend of Paul Flores can testify how she led detectives to an avocado grove where investigators say they found “critical evidence”. The hearing continues this morning.
