The preliminary hearing for Paul and Ruben Flores continued yesterday. Day seven included testimony from a cadaver dog handler who searched Paul’s dorm room in 1996. Adela Morris testified that her cadaver dog Cholla gave “the strongest alert” she had seen her do when she reached room 128 of the dorm. That was Paul Flores’s room when Kristin Smart first went missing. Paul’s defense attorney started the day by making a motion to disqualify the County D.A.’s Office because the Deputy D.A. has worn purple ties during the hearing. A temporary motion hearing is scheduled for August 25 and would involve the State Attorney General’s office.
