San Luis Obispo will soon be without a mayor. Heidi Harmon announced last month that she would be moving on to a climate advocacy job in Santa Cruz. Her last day as mayor will be September 26th. The San Luis Obispo City council voted to use an appointment process to fill the vacancy. According to City Clerk Teresa Purrington, a special election would have had a price tag between 150,000 and 200,000 dollars.
