Over the past couple of weeks, we’ve reported about kids on their way to school in Orcutt being hit by cars. The CHP says officers have been stepping up their efforts to make the roads safer, especially around schools. Officers are stepping up their patrols near crosswalks and areas with a high number of crashes involving pedestrians. The operation’s focus is on drivers and pedestrians who fail to yield
the right-of-way or who take unsafe and illegal actions.
