Sheriff’s Office Salutes Local Heroes

The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office held its annual awards ceremony yesterday morning. Sheriff Ian Parkinson recognized several people for their actions over the past two years. Including four people who received the Citizen Recognition Award for their role in helping nab a kidnapping suspect during an Amber Alert incident in December 2019 in Cambria, saving a two-year-old girl. And Deputy Cliff Pacas, who received the Medal of Valor to Deputy Cliff Pacas for his response to the June 2020 active shooter incident in Paso Robles. Pacas and his partner, Deputy Nick Dreyfus. Both came under fire from the suspect. Dreyfus was shot in the face. Pacas returned fire then rendered first aid to his partner, ultimately saving his life.
