Public comment on the proposed Chumash Heritage National Marine Sanctuary is now open. If approved, the sanctuary would protect 156 miles of Central Coast coastline and encompass roughly 7,670-square miles of ocean between Monterey and the Channel Islands. According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, you have until January 10th to make public comments about the sanctuary proposal.
