A 49 single-family homes could soon replace the Hi-Way Drive-in Movie Theater in Santa Maria. The proposed housing project is a step closer to approval. The people’s Self Help project recently received a 3-1 vote from the Santa Maria Planning Commission to change the current zoning to residential. The project is now headed to the city council for consideration.
