The Paso Robles Joint Unified School District is under federal investigation for alleged discrimination. The U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights investigation stems from the district’s 7-11 Advisory Committee recommending the closure of Georgia Brown Elementary School. The site of the district’s only Spanish/English-language dual immersion program. A statement by District Superintendent Curt Dubost states, in part, The district firmly denies any discrimination against Latino students or their families and has numerous initiatives to ensure participation of all members of our community.” According to the Tribune, it’s unclear how long the investigation will last.
