Port San Luis Harbor officials were forced to evacuate the Harford Pier in Avila Beach yesterday afternoon. It started when the driver of a Toyota Camry overshot a parking spot, hitting a gas meter. The meter was near Mersea’s Seafood Restaurant on the pier. A gas leak forced the area to be evacuated. The two people in the car were taken to an area hospital for treatment. The Pier was reopened several hours later.
