Cal Fire firefighters are getting a handle on a wildfire that broke out Friday night near Big Sur. So far the fire, now called Colorado Fire, has scorched close to 1,000 acres. Almost 300 firefighters are battling the blaze. Hundreds of residents are still under evacuation orders and winds in the area are creating challenges for firefighters. The Colorado Fire is currently 35 percent contained. The cause of the fire is under investigation. The Colorado Fire serves as a reminder that California is seeing longer fire seasons. “Now our fires are extending all the way through December and then into January.” CAL FIRE public information officer Cecile Juliette.
