A proposed green energy storage facility near Morro Bay has run into a snag. Hydrostor, a Canadian-based energy storage company has been drilling test wells to test the viability of the bedrock of their 300 acres Chorro Valley location. The Coastal Commission has determined Hydrostor’s drilling violated the California Coastal Act. Hydrostor needs to provide a plan to the Coastal Commission by tomorrow. According to the Tribune, if the plan is approved they will need to get a coastal development permit from San Luis Obispo County. The project could still face appeals from the Coastal Commission and the residents in the area.
