The Kristin Smart murder trial will be held outside of San Luis Obispo County. The judge in the case agreed with Paul and Ruben Flores’s defense attorneys, who argued that the two men would not be able to get a fair trial in SLO County. Paul Flores is accused of killing Kristin Smart after a party in May 1996. His father Ruben is accused of being an accessory after the fact. Yesterday’s decision will push back the start date of the trial until a suitable location can be found.
