For the past seven years, a portion of the iconic Avila Pier has bee fenced off. Now there’s a plan to move forward to give the pier a facelift and make it safe again. According to KSBY, the Harbor Commission voted last month to move forward with plans to make the necessary repairs and upgrade in stages. Stage one would replace all the decking boards. Funding for the first stage comes from public grants and private funding from the Friends of Avila Pier. Details of when the project will begin have not been released.
