Four Central Coast Farms Fined For H-2a Violations

Four Central Coast farms have been fined for underpaying migrant workers. An investigation by the U.S. Department of Labor found some farms had violated some sections of the H-2A temporary agricultural workers program. The Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division found the farms had underpaid migrant workers more than 200,000 dollars. A report also found that a farm in Nipomo and three in Santa Maria had failed to provide meals or kitchen facilities, and safe transportation to and from work. The farms have been fined and ordered to pay back wages.
