Estrella Warbirds Museum in Paso Robles lost one of their own over the weekend. Veteran pilot Sherman Smoot died in a fatal crash in Shafter Friday while preparing for the Reno Air Races. He was a member of the Board of Directors and past president of the Estrella Warbirds Museum. Last month he took 17 veterans for a tour over the Central Coast in a converted WWII C-47. He is survived by his wife Laurie, daughter Carly and son Jimmy.
