A decision on Ruben Flores’s fate could take a bit longer. A juror has been excused after talking with his priest about the case. The conversation with the priest was contrary to instructions given to the jury by the judge, The judge found out about the conversation in a note from another juror. The court clerk drew from a pool of alternate jurors. Now the jury must start its deliberations from the beginning. Ruben Flores has been on trial for helping hide Kristin Smart’s body after she was allegedly murdered by his son Paul Flores in 1996.
