The federal government has given the green light to auction off large tracts of the Pacific Ocean off the California coast. Roughly 240,898 acres of ocean off the coast of Cambria and San Simeon will be used for floating offshore wind energy development. Following the announcement by the U.S. Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, a total of 43 companies had qualified to bid in the upcoming auction.
