The city of Santa Maria has launched its first electric buses. Santa Maria Regional Transit officials say the buses will service routes 1 and 11 with service to Broadway. They are the first steps toward a city goal of carbon-free mass transit ahead of California mandates. Funding for the buses came from State and Federal grants.
