Several mountain lion sightings in San Luis Obispo had city officials issuing a Wildlife Advisory over the weekend. Hiking Trails at Irish Hills and Johnson Ranch open spaces have been temporarily closed to the public. Hikers and Mountain bikers could be cited if found using closed open spaces. According to the Tribune, the Righetti Hill Open Space is also closed. It’s unclear if this closure is related to mountain lion sightings. If you are involved in a close face-to-face encounter with a mountain lion, do not approach it or run away. Back away slowly, giving the lion a path to leave.
