One of San Luis Obispo County’s top employers is down-sizing. In a move toward fiscal responsibility, The California Department of Corrections will be closing a large portion of the California Men’s Colony. According to the Tribune, the lower-security West Facility at CMC will be shut down. As of June, it housed roughly 2,000 inmates. It is unclear when the West Facility will be closed, or how many employees will be affected.
