Santa Maria residents learned what to do in the event of a disaster yesterday. The Santa Maria Fire Department hosted the training workshop. It focused on holiday cooking fires and and how to detect possible fire hazards. It also taught them about what to do in disasters, what supplies they should keep at home and in the car, and how to evacuate properly. Emergency preparedness workshops are held every other month.
