The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents about an old phone scam that’s making a comeback. Several SLO County residents reported in the last few days that someone claiming to be from the Sheriff’s Office told them they missed jury duty and as a result, had a warrant out for their arrest. The caller then tells the resident they can clear the matter up with a pre-paid debit card. The Sheriff’s Office or the Courts do not contact residents about these matters. Hang up and contact local law enforcement.
