A carjacking and police pusuit landed a suspect in jail and an officer on administrative leave. Santa Maria police say it started last night at around 5:30. An officer spotted Francisco Gomez driving on W. Cook Street in a vehicle reported to be stolen at gunpoint. Gomez crashed the vehicle in a parking lot, bailing out with what appeared to be a real firearm. He escaped into a nearby business, threatening the owner with the BB gun. The owner disarmed Gomez and police took him into custody. Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s will conduct an investigation into the officer’s actions.
