Haruo Hayashi, Arroyo Grande farmer, World War II veteran, and Arroyo Grande High School Graduate has passed away at the age of 96. According to one of his sons, he died on December 7th from natural causes. While he attended Arroyo Grande High School, he didn’t graduate. He was sent to an internment camp when he was 16. He joined the U.S. Army a couple of years later. After building a family farming business, and sitting on the school board, Haruo Hayashi eventually received his high school diploma alongside his grandson at the age of 93.
