The defense attorney for the man accused of shooting a tourist from San Pedro and his 11-year-old nephew during an argument over a Morro Strand campsite rested his case yesterday. Stephen Deflaun is facing two counts of murder. He earlier testified that in 2001 voices in his head told him to shoot Stephen Wells and Jerry Rios Jr… Adding that he didn’t have a choice. Dr. Carolyn Murphy, a forensic psychologist took the stand yesterday and testified that Deflaun’s diagnosis of schizophrenia was accurate. Closing arguments are scheduled for next Tuesday.
