Santa Maria will be getting a new Japanese Cultural Community Center. Historians say Japanese pioneers began arriving on the Central Coast roughly 200 years ago. Business owners, farmers, and families helped shape the Santa Maria Valley and the local agriculture industry. The new Cultural Center will feature art and exhibits of the first settlers. According to KSBY, a 500,000 dollar grant from HUD completed the funding needed to begin construction. The Japanese Cultural Center will be located off Bradley Road and Betteravia Road.
