Santa Maria Police are investigating a shooting incident that landed the victim behind bars. Investigators say the shooting happened last Monday, May 1st. Police responded to a report of a fight on East Monroe. They found 53-year-old Jose Meza suffering from a severe gunshot wound. They also found Meza in possession of a loaded firearm, Methamphetamine, and cocaine. The vehicle he was driving had also been reported stolen from San Diego. He was booked yesterday on several drug and weapons charges, and a parole violation.
