The San Luis Obispo County D.A.’s Office has sent a warning to local real estate agencies about a new property scam. According to the Tribune, the scammers pose as property owners and negotiate the sale of vacant and lien-free properties. The D.A.’s Office says the scammers usually target the elderly. Adding that red flags include, someone refusing to meet in person and only communicating electronically. Agents should also request in-person or virtuall meetings and ask for government issued identification. Anyone who finds their property has been fraudulently listed should contact the D.A.’s Office.
