A proposed lithium battery storage facility in Morro Bay could be facing opposition. A group of Morro Bay residents wants to block the construction of the facility saying the 24 acres north of the old Morro Bay power plant should be reserved for future visitor services. According to the Tribune, the property has a decades-long history of industrial use. Critics believe the city should do something to preserve Morro Bay’s fishing village atmosphere and heritage.
