Several anit-nuclear and environmental groups have filed a petition to try and keep the Diablo Canyon power plant from operating beyond 2025. According to the Tribune, San Luis Obispo Mothers for Peace, Friends of the Earth, and Environmental Working Group filed their petition last week. They claim the NRC sidestepped long-established protocols, putting the public and environment at risk. The NRC has not responded to the petition.
