SLO Mayor Responds To “White Pride” Banner

The mayor of San Luis Obispo took to social media over the weekend after three men displayed a “white pride” banner. On Saturday, the three men displayed the banner in front of the San Luis Obispo Fire Department’s Station No. 1. According to the Tribune, it included symbolism associated with Nazis and the words “black shirts”, a term used by Italian Fascists during World War II. In an Instagram post, Mayor Stewart said in part “We stand firmly against racism, bigotry, and discrimination of any kind.”
