New Mural Brightens Hwy 135 In Santa Maria

A new mural in Santa Maria is making Broadway a little brighter. The 16 by 32-foot mural was painted by local teens under the direction of Kym Cochran and Jonathan Smith with The Environment Makers, Inc. and shows the past, present, and future of Santa Maria. Officials say it depicts the key elements that make up what Santa Maria is known for, farming, barbeque, and rodeo. The City’s Recreation and Parks Department says the mural is part of Santa Maria’s public arts program intended to enrich the community’s quality of life.
