A new environmental impact report shows demolishing the Diablo Canyon power plant will have a significant impact on the surrounding ecosystems. According to the report, dismantling and decontaminating the nuclear power plant would have “significant and unavoidable” effects on surrounding coastal wildlife on land and in the ocean. The draft EIR outlines a 15-year plan to dismantle the plant. A public meeting will take place on Aug. 9, at 6 p.m. at the San Luis Obispo County Government Center.
