It’s back to school for thousands of Santa Mariakids next week. According to Santa Maria City Pubilc Works officials, the kids walking to school will have more visible crosswalks designed to alert drivers that children could be in the area. It’s part of the city’s Safe Routes To School program. 55 crosswalks were identified as needing upgrades. Vehicle traffic will also be heavier, and drivers are reminded to be cautious in school zones.
