Five inmates at the Santa Barbara County Main Jail attempted to escape Monday night. Officials say it happened during a group movement as part of a routine linen exchange. At around 8:45 the escapees were spotted in an unauthorized area. While teh inmates defeated one layer of security, they had several to go before escaping the facility. The name of the inmates have not been released due to an ongoing investigation.
