SLO Sheriff’s Office Warns Of New Scam

The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents of a new rash of scammers. Officials say the scammers are trying to impersonate the Sheriff’s office, claiming contacted individuals have a warrant out for their arrest. The scammers then direct their potential victims to a phone number with a fake sheriff’s office phone tree. Sheriff’s officials remind everyone that they do not contact residents by phone about a warrant. They also do not request money or gift cards instead of bail.
