There is a national shortage of blood. That’s the word from the American Red Cross. Local Vitalant blood donation centers in San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara Counties have seen a dramatic drop-off in the number of donations since the pandemic began in 2020 and 15,000 fewer donations this past summer.
