Governor Gavin Newsom blocked the parole of a man connected to the death of a Santa Maria girl. Jason Greenwell was one of the men convicted in the 2010 death of 15-year-old Dystiny Myers. Her body was found beaten and partially burned near Santa Margarita Lake. Greenwell was convicted of 2nd degree murder and sentenced to 15 years to life in prison. Newsom wrote that he believed Greenwell still “poses an unreasonable danger to society if released from prison at this time.”
