A Santa Maria woman’s murder trial got underway yesterday. 38-year-old Kimberly Machleit is accused of shooting Joseph Govey to death in December 2018. Police found Govey’s dismembered body two years later in a water hazard at Blacklake Golf Course in Nipomo. Yesterday, a roommate who is serving time for his role in the case, described the events that led to the shooting and disposal of Govey’s body. The trial resumes this morning.
