San Luis Obispo County has been awarded a grant to help find new water reuse and possible desalination projects. The 550,000 dollar grant from the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation would help start a feasibility, technology and project location study. A Desalination project would provide a sustainable water source through climate change, insufficient rainfall, or water conservation efforts. According to the Tribune, SLO County officials have had an interest in Desalination for the past ten years.
